UCSB is currently not a part of the Wholesale Power Program.Дirector of Energy and Facilities Management Services George Getgen said campus leadership chose approximately two years ago to forfeit their Direct Access eligibility in favor of serving investor-owned utility organization Southern California Edison, (SCE) which is referred to as вЂњbundled serviceвЂќ.

There is a governing board consisting of representatives from the universities listed as well as UC Davis and UC Berkeley. The University of California, a registered Electrical Service Provider (ESP) as of March 2014, will begin providing electricity to five of its campuses and three of its medical centers this month through Direct Access of the Wholesale Power Program.Д¬ampuses in the Wholesale Power Program include UC Irvine, UC Merced, UC San Diego, UC San Francisco and UC Santa Cruz and medical programs at UCI, UCSD and UCSF. While five UCs and UC Medical Centers will soon be powered through the University of California, it was decided that it would be cheaper and greener for UCSB to continue to purchase power from Southern California Edison.
